Entrance to Clinic Surgery. Georgetown Equine now has the ability to perform surgeries in a state of the art, sterile surgical room and a separate padded induction and recovery room. Our surgical suite is unique due to the fact we provide inhaled, not intravenous, anesthesia. This is safer for the horses ensuring a better plane of anesthesia, less stressful surgery, and smoother recovery.

Podiatry. 90% of all lameness’s are in the foot, so it is no surprise that farriers play an important role in helping our patients. We strongly believe that veterinarians and farriers should work together to offer the best care possible. Our podiatry center allows farriers to work comfortably and have the veterinarians available for radiographs and consultations. Radiographs are essential to determine the relationship between P3 (“coffin bone”) and the hoof capsule.

Reproduction. We cater to the broodmares providing our owners with services needed to get a mare in foal and monitor her pregnancy. Check your due date by entering your insemination or breeding date into our foal calculator.

Digital Radiology. The latest technology in the world of diagnostic imaging is the digital radiograph. Thanks to the new technology the staff is able to immediately view a digital radiograph ensuring that it is the exact view they need which aids in quicker and more accurate treatment.

Digital Ultrasound. Our high frequency probes provide high resolution imaging of tendons, ligaments, and abdominal organs. There is no better way to track the progress of a healing tendon injury than with a series of ultrasounds, and with the digital machine you can take a copy of your pictures home on a CD. Coming Soon.

Endoscopy. A 3-meter endoscope allows for visualization of the stomach lining to definitively diagnose gastric ulcers, while our 1-meter scope is better suited for examination of the upper airways, pharynx, and guttural pouches.

Laboratory Services. Our in-house laboratory provides prompt information regarding blood work such as Chemistries, Blood Counts, Thyroid level, and Immunoglobulin level. Performing such tests right in the clinic saves our clients time and money.
Lameness Exams. Having a covered round pen with good footing is a great asset in reaching an accurate diagnosis. Now mud and rain do not prevent us from carefully evaluating your horse. Diagnostic tools such as nerve and joint blocks, radiographs, ultrasound, and experience.

Pre-Purchase Exams. If you are spending $200 or $20,000, we are going to perform a thorough examination on every pre-purchase. After our initial examination, our doctors may recommend further diagnostics (radiographs). Our goal is to provide the potential buyer with the most information possible regarding the health of the horse.

Dentistry. Our loving horses are living longer thanks to our ability to provide quality dental services. Horses teeth continually grow throughout their lives, as they chew the teeth wear down, and sharp points form along the edges. The PowerFloat performs precision dentistry by allowing the doctor to focus on each tooth individually.

Ambulatory Services. Our preference is to schedule appointments in our fully equipped hospital, however, seeing a horse in his daily environment can provide insight into potential health issues.

Hauling Services. There are certain procedures that must be performed in the hospital. If a client does not have the ability to transport their horse, we offer very reasonable hauling services. Our staff is very experienced in handling horses and hauling trailers, so your horses are always in good hands.

Rehabilitation Services. Georgetown Equine Medicine and Surgery will soon be home to a cold sale hydrotherapy spa. The 35 degree Fahrenheit water and the concentrated salt activity are highly therapeutic by decreasing inflammation and pain and drawing out heat and fluid. The Equine Cold Salt Hydrotherapy has proven to help horses with tendon lesions, laminitis, and wounds.
